Literature Text

In the end, everyone leaves
Sometimes before they even arrive
Wishes and lies spilled forward
With simultaneous ease
What was once desired
Suddenly forgotten, discarded

Or perhaps along came
Another happy distraction
Before we could even have breakfast
And watch the sun rise over the Mississippi
Drunken with lust and perseverance

Giving in to instant gratification
Self-absorption and frightening
Uninvited silence
You pull away, actions loud
Mouth always closed
But my eyes are open

I see you lying under
The soft blanket of despair
And of desire
She was closer and easier
They say "jump!"

And we do

Still, holding onto the cold rail of chance
Fingers grasping for our lives
Always slipping reaching grasping
Bleeding
I believed in the moment

I wish for one more
random, flowing thoughts emerging...an old poem dug up from awhile back...found an entire notebook full of random writings which i'll eventually copy here if i think they're decent enough to share.
